Habitat for Bea and Nacho
Nacho and Bea want to take part in the construction of their habitat -literally. They live just 50 metres away from the plot, during the afternoons and weekends, they want to work on it. So we develop a custom-made construction system, using only CLT panels, in which we will assemble a prefabricated enclosure during two weeks, leaving them an open porch that they can continue with the help of simple tools and a handbook we will draw and write for them:
Summer living: they move all furniture outside. Camp on the roof, cook and eat under the trees, grow their own food in the orchard... The house is very close to Barajas Airport, so they can watch the planes landing and taking off at night.
Autumn and spring living: They spend their days on the sunny sides of the garden, and in the evening get back inside, which is warm from storing the sun's daily heat.
Winter living: the green roof and west façade facing the afternoon sun heat the inside. The walls thick wool insulation and a fireplace keep the heat inside in the evening, night and early morning.
